This is an original antique issue of Scientific American for September 18, 1886. This issue is 20 pages including the covers measuring about 16.25" x 11.25".
This issue is noteworthy since it contains a featured article illustrated with photos and drawings on the British yacht Galatea and the American yacht Mayflower as they competed for the America's Cup .
Other content includes an article on Michel Eugene Chevreul and an article on the ACME Automatic safety engine.
Scientific American was a leading science and technology publication of the 19th century which is still in print today.  Each issue is a large over sized format richly illustrated with numerous engravings.
These issues are original antiques published well over 100 years ago.  There will typically be some toning of the paper from age as well as a few small nicks or chips on the edges but these issues are all 100% complete, solidly intact and in good to very good shape overall.  This issue is placed in a plastic archival sleeve with cardboard backing from which it can be removed for framing or display if you wish to do so.  Please see our other auctions for similar items.  Email any questions.  Thanks for looking.
